Product Details

This fabulous Antique Victorian Scottish Penannular Celtic brooch is Circa 1860.

Scottish jewellery was made popular by Queen Victoria as it became a souvenir of her frequent trips to Scotland and her Scottish Castle Balmoral from the mid 1800s.

The Penannular is a type of Celtic brooch which has been worn by Scottish elites throughout history as a status symbol as well as a clothes fastener.

The brooch is set with stunning plaid Agates and adorned with seven cabochon Quartz stones that simulate the amber glow of a Citrine or Cairngorm.

Agate is a strong mineral sometimes known as the earth rainbow for it’s patterned texture that shows varying colours the earth can produce.

Each plaid Agate is unique with beautiful natural colouring and polished to perfection.

The brooch is all set in Sterling Silver and complete with Scottish Silver ‘Kite mark’ on the reverse.

The brooch is truly beautiful and steeped in history, a wonderful collectors piece.

Weighs 16.4 grams.

Measures 41mm across x 43mm down.

Excellent condition.
